About Me

I’m Daniel Fulton. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing online therapy throughout Illinois and California. More to the point, I am someone with a passion for helping people find more satisfaction in their lives and relationships.

My Approach

I work from Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches. What this means is that as your therapist, I will work to connect you to your authentic, core Self, and discover and accept all parts of your personality. This can allow you to access and meaningfully express primal, often hidden emotions. Together, we will untangle and make sense of your difficult feelings, and work to open up greater possibilities for deep connection to yourself and to others.

I believe as human beings it is our most basic desire to be truly seen and felt by significant others. It is in secure relationships that we are able to grow and flourish, starting with a secure connection to ourselves.

For couples, families, and groups, I will work to create safety and awareness in the room so that interactional patterns can be identified and explored.

With individuals, I use the therapeutic relationship as a secure base, providing a safe and confidential space for you to discover yourself and grow into the person you are meant to be.

My Background & Training

Before earning my master’s degree from Antioch University Los Angeles, I pursued my passions for film and music in the entertainment industry. My time on that path taught me so much about connecting to deep human emotion. Becoming a spouse and parent myself has informed my work with clients and inspires me to focus on helping couples, families, and individuals thrive in their relationships.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems IFS through the IFS Institute, and in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples through the International Centre for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT). I have also studied the principles and techniques of group therapy through the Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles (GPALA).

I also have training as a Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator, as well as additional training in perinatal mental health through Maternal Mental Health Now.

I am a member of professional organizations, including the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), where I have attended several seminars focusing on couples' issues.
